Stay tuned for more music coming your way!

June upload

Hi!

In my previous post, I mentioned that I was learning some Chopin polonaises and here is one of Chopin's earliest composition, one can definitely recognize the resemblance to Mozart's work.

Summer Vacation

Hello everyone!

Since it's now summer break, I thought I should make a list of the music that I intend to learn during this holiday. Also, I've changed my YT cover art once again, be sure to let me know what you guys think of it.

1. Chopin Polonaise in G minor
I've started working on this piece a few days back and I'm currently halfway through it, as this is a really short piece which Chopin had composed when he was a really young boy. Hopefully I'll find time to record this piece for YT soon.

2. Bach Partita No.2 in C minor BWV826 Capriccio
I was flipping through one of my music books and I came across this Bach piece. I've always wanted to pick up a new Bach piece since it has been quite a while since I've played Bach. Bach's music is always a challenge to me, because of how the 2 multiple melodies that intertwine between the right and left hand. I've just started learning a short phrase from this piece today and it is incredibly difficult I must say.

3. Haydn sonata in c major hob xvi 35 3rd Movt
I've played the first movt many years back and I did attempt to learn the 2nd and 3rd movement but not to completion, hence now I've decided to revisit the 3rd movement. Haydn's music is not very complex compared to Bach, but his music have loads of ornaments where I tend to mess up ahahhah.

That's all for now, I'll try my best to practice and keep y'all updated with my progress.

Cheers

I'm BACK!

Hello!

I'm officially done with my 2nd year in Uni! So here's a Beethoven sonata to celebrate! Woohoo!

Recently, I've gotten a new Chopin Polonaise Collection book and I can't wait to start learning pieces from it. Since, I've never ever played a Chopin polonaise, I may start with Polonaise in G minor which is supposedly one of his easiest polonaises. Let me know what other polonaise you think I should learn! :)

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all!

Currently, I've taken a break from piano so that I can spend more time on school work. I only play during my leisure time, thus explaining the lack of uploads. I've found time to put together this simple and elegant piece by Emily Bear. Hope that I'll still be able to find time to play the piano and upload videos on my channel. A BIG THANK YOU to all who have been following my musical journey since I've started my YouTube channel.

Haydn

Hey !

I'm not sure who transcribed this piece for piano and I skipped all the repeats in my score. :P I didn't expect it was going to turn out so bright from my window. Haha, enojy!

Anyways, I'm going to learn more movements from Bach french suite no.6. Currently, I can play Courante, Polonaise and Minuet. I'm considering if I should learn Bourree or Allemande. Both sound so good!

Another collab

Proudly presenting......

Yeap, the duet! This piece brings back lots of memories, especially when I first learnt it 2 years ago.
This piece starts off with blue moon and then goes to the original heart and soul melody.

This was recorded on my friend's Iphone 7plus. I'm so loving the quality of this!

Enjoy and stay tuned for my next video.

July Update

Hey everyone

I thought I would like to give y'all an update on the repertoire I'm working on now for piano.

1. Mozart Sonata in D K.284 (Movt.1)
I have been working on this piece for about 3 months and now I'm trying to clean it with better speed and accuracy. This piece have a really playful character and I really enjoy the dynamics contrast of the piece as well.

2. Clementi Sonata Op.1 No.2 (Movt. 2)
I started working on this piece in June and I'm halfway through it now. This is the first Clementi sonata I'm learning, I had learnt some of his sonatinas in the past, but his sonatas are pretty cool as well!

3. Transcription of Haydn's Surprise Symphony (Movt. 2)
Started working on this piece the week before last and I must say I'm not a huge fan of this piece at all. I've never heard of Haydn's Surprise Symphony prior to learning this piece. Maybe I should try exposing myself to more symphonies and orchestra works. My teacher wanted me to work on something different, so I agreed to take on this transcription. And I must say, it is definitely not an easy one.

4. Heart and Soul Piano Duet
This was a piece which I had learnt 2 years back, I always wanted to get a video of me playing it with my friend but that didn't happen. So, I'm picking up this piece again in hopes that I might get a video of this duet.

However, I'm not sure if I would be able to upload and videos this month, as I'm currently working a temp job which takes up most of my time. But, I still have 2 weeks of holiday in August before school starts and I should be able to find time to make videos then.

Criserl : More videos

Hello

I've collaborated with me friend Claris again as I'm currently on school break, so we thought it would be fun to do a collab.

In this first video, Claris is actually standing on my right side, hence u can't see her in the video. But u can see her standing beside me in the 2nd video!

Next up, this is actually an excerpt of Through the Night, the vocals is kinda soft as I did not have the voice recording to do an overlay, hence using a earpiece might help with the audio quality. We did not rehearsed this piece at all, this is just a fun video that we decided to throw in at the end of the day.

Do let me know if you enjoy watching collabs and want more of such content on my channel. I'll be posting more classical pieces in June so stay tuned for those.

I'm back with a new video

I haven't played an Emily Bear piece for quite awhile, so I decided why not learn one of her older compositions which is relatively simple and has a really pretty melody line.

As usual, this piece was played by ear and nope I do not have the sheet music.

I'll be uploading more videos soon, so stay tuned!!
XOXO

December update

Heyhey!!

I'm finally back after a long hiatus. The last time I blog was 6 months ago and the last time I uploaded some content was a year ago! Time flies and now I'm a freshmen in University so that means busy busy busy.

My schoolmate and I have come together to play this really nice chinese song 你,好不好? (How have you been?) by Eric. We took a few days to learn our sections and had a few test run before deciding to record it.

It was my first time collaborating with a vocalist and I've definitely learnt a lot about accompaniment work.

I'm still recording on my IpodTouch, so the quality is still pretty much the same as when I first started making videos years back. :P

I am planning to upload so classical pieces so stay tuned... Hint: Chopin

Criserl: June update

Hello everyone!

The last time I posted was at the start of 2016 and now I think it is a good time to be updating this blog.

I know I promised to be making more videos after my exams ended, however, as I am now awaiting for University to start, I've taken up a temporary full time job where I work from 8.30 am to 6.00 pm on weekdays, so that leaves me with very little time to play the piano. I continue to take piano lessons on Sundays and thus I am left with Saturday to practice piano.

I am intending to end work in mid July so that should give me about a week to learn and play something nice. Preferably something by Chopin. :) *hint a nocturne that I was previously working on*

So before I have any original music to share, I am just going to share this beautiful piece of which my friend posted the sheet music Instagram, and I totally fell inn love with it.

Welcoming 2016!

After a long hiatus, I am finally back!

Presenting to all, my latest video which is an anime piece. I first heard this piece on a totally different instrument - the cello a few years back, and I immediately fell in love with this piece. However, with all the other pieces that I was juggling I couldn't find time for this.

This piece has many repeat sections with minor variations. It took me a few weeks to learn considering the fact that I wasn't really diligent about practising daily. :X

I hope that I will be uploading more music soon.

XOXO

Criserl : Finally a new upload!

Hello!!

This will be my last update here before December as I am now preparing for another major exam and can hardly find time to make any videos. But I promise I will be back!

Here is the long-awaited Mozart Rondo. I haven't been practising a lot so please excuse the mistakes.

If you all have realised by now, I got a new watermark on my YT vids! This is so cool!

Anyway, March 26th is Epilepsy Awareness Day, so I hope you all can wear purple and perhaps make a small donation to Epilepsy Foundation or Epilepsy Society if you wish to. Thank you.

Until next time...

Thank you for 4000 followers on Keek!!

This is like the best Christmas present ever! I never knew I would have 4K of followers from all over the world.

For those who haven't seen my keek channel, do check it out : http://keek.com/criserlteo
My keek includes video of my daily life and its kinda like a vlog of me practising piano and dance or sharing about my favourite things.

Also, I would like to apologise for not uploading YT videos frequently as college is keeping me really busy and I have other commitments as well.

Once I get the Mozart Rondo down, I will definitely film it. I don't really have lots of time to practice and that is one reason why it is still quite far from perfection, but I believe I'll get there soon.

Wishing all a Merry Christmas!

XOXO

December update : Criserl

Hey everyone!!

I finally have more time to play the piano because it is now the school holidays :)

The above is Mozart Rondo and I hope this piece will be ready before Christmas. :) It is really fun to play rondo because it is fast. Apart from this Rondo, I am also working on some Haydn Sonata and Chopin Nocturne.

Your pianist,

November Update - Criserl

Hi!!

My friend JH got me to upload my playing of Chopin's Waltz so yeap I did as requested. It wasn't super good and there were still many flaws. However, I hope you like it.

And yeah now my friend has to play Yiruma's When The Love Falls for me. :P Hahaha

I'm now practising Mozart. Can't wait to complete that and upload it for you all.

Until then,
Criserl

November Update - Viviana

Wow, it really has been a long time since I last posted anything...

Well, I'll get straight to what I've been up to -
Today I just ordered three different piano books! Two of them are music theory (Fundamentals of Piano Theory - Book 9, Book 10) and one is a big book of music from the Baroque Era to the Modern (The Library of Piano Classics). I'm really excited to see what else I can learn. :D  The Ballade (WHICH I'VE BEEN WORKING ON FOREVER!! :/ ) is going much better than before. I've finally gotten to Page 11... I still have 16 pages to go...and the hardest parts of the piece are yet to come. Hopefully I'll be able to manage those.

I have finally decided something - I really like Rachmaninoff. I didn't really care for his music before, but after hearing his Piano Concerto No. 2  and Prelude in C-Sharp Minor I decided that he really was an absolutely amazing composer. I guess you could say he's one of my favorites now.

Every once in a while I might upload some videos. It's not something I really find the time or quietness to finish (it really is the quietness issue... my household is always so loud). If I ever do have some time then maybe I will record something, like my new arrangement of Silent Night, which I happen to think is the best arrangement I've come up with so far. It is a bit simple, and maybe even cliche, but Silent Night is beautiful no matter what (Oh, which reminds me of two beautiful versions of O Holy Night you ALL must hear!!! -- The Canadian Tenors - O Holy Night, -- Il Volo - O Holy Night).

Recently, I started listening to some of Schumann's works. I really, REALLY love his songs from Dichterliebe, especially Im wunderschoenen Monat Mai. It's one of my new absolute favorites ever!

For now, that's all the news I have. :)

God bless you all.

Welcoming September

Hey!

It has been quite a while since I've updated here. I am no longer taking regular piano classes due to my busy schedule but instead I will take holiday classes only. My promotional exams is going to take place in 3 weeks time, so after I am done with that, I can spend more time to practice piano!

The above is one of Liszt's famous piece which has been on my to-play-list for a long time. I've decided to start working on that piece and hopefully it will be done by this year end, considering the amount of time I have to practice and how difficult this piece is.

September will be another exciting month as I get to dance for Teacher's Day in college and tackle my promotional exams.

Stay tuned for more,
Criserl
