News and Things of That Sort

Hi! Sorry I haven't posted any videos... I've been wanting to, but just haven't gotten around to it.

If any of you ever looked at the comments on Emily's videos, there were many rude comments on there, jealous sounding comments. This was all 1 month or longer ago. What I noticed about all the users who were posting these comments was that they typed similar, and were all promoting Mercedes Barcella. Have any of you heard of her? I have watched her videos, but I must say, she isn't as talented as Emily... And she shows off a bit much... Oh well, you can't do anything about stuff like that... Anyway, I had responded to some of those horrid comments, defending Emily, and the users started attacking me and being rude, calling me a liar and an ignorant person. So I replied logically yet tried to be kinder than they had been to me... They kept saying that "Mercedes is Mozart, Emily is Beethoven; Mozart taught Beethoven" and other things like,"Mercedes taught herself piano, Emily had years of professional teachers" and so forth. In the end, I stopped replying. The other day, I saw a video of Mercedes and saw that she had a website. I decided to check it out, and when I went on the guestbook, there were some things regarding Emily Bear (or that was what I inferred). A person had said that me and some other users had said mean things to Mercedes (not true; I only commented on Emily's videos) and that we were cyberbullies. Then, the person also gave out our YouTube channels, and said that she had been keeping a very close eye on us, to see if we'd say anything about Mercedes. She said that Mercedes should report us... None of us (except one user...) had ever said anything directly to Mercedes. I realized that some dislikes I had recently gotten must have been Mercedes Barcella fans....

Here is an original composition by Mercedes Barcella.
And a composition by Emily.

I finished Tutti Cuore and I am just perfecting it now. I will upload it once I feel it is good enough. :)

I am hoping to record the new original composition. I don't know what to call it though... I'm also working on composing something else. I'm trying decide what pieces from Always True are ones I'd like to learn.... I kind of feel like skipping those pieces and go straight to the Hope songbook; I haven't ordered it though. I have so much sheet music that I don't think it makes sense to buy more... :D

Until the next post!

100 posts!!! - Viviana

Hi! How are you guys? It's soooo freezing in Chicago, with weather that feels like -3 degrees. I can't wait for spring now! :D

WE HAVE REACHED 100 POSTS!!!! Wow!!

I've been working pretty hard the past few days! I learned more of the waltz, finished an original composition, started re-learning Tutti Cuore, added more on to Final Journey, and can finally do that run in Piano in the Sky. I think my family is really tired of those pieces... :P  I will be recording the original composition soon.

What I want to uploaded next is the rest of the Emily Bear pieces I have not recorded yet. So that would be all the ones I mentioned above, and the rest from the songbooks The Love in Us and Always True. I've actually started trying out Always True, since it seems right to learn the piece that the songbook is named after... I REALLY do want to upload an improvisation, but sometimes I don't have anything creative enough for a video like that... And I've also been wondering this: what do you guys want to see next? What kind of pieces? Or posts? I want to try out something different. Should I do a video update? Tell me what you think.

Oh, I no longer use the email thepianistviviana@gmail.com   If you need to get a hold of me, you can contact me through here, YouTube, Google+, or Twitter. :)

I've really been trying to put more emotion into every video I film now. I must say, it's really hard to do so. Sometimes I can't feel the emotion of the piece, and therefore the playing isn't as well as it could be with more emotion.

Should I do more polls? If so, what kind? A new year means trying out new things! :)

Goodbye for now!

Another upload!

Here is Kuhlau sonatina op.20 no.2 movt. 1 :)

I'm currently spending more time learning Alto and Tenor clefts, they are really an important part on music theory so do check them out :)

Love,
Criserl

Original Composition: Fading Flower

Hey! Here's another original composition. I don't think I did a very good job with this one... There's just certain times where it doesn't work out well. I was trying to re-record 23 Free, but the camera started going crazy, and stopped recording. :(

I haven't asked my Mom yet if I can order Hope... I'll have to do that soon.

Update for January - Viviana :)

Hey!! How are you all? I'm starting to feel sick... It's been pretty bad with sickness in my family, and when you have 4 siblings, it's really easy to get sick...

I haven't been really working on getting further in any pieces. I like to perfect parts before I move on... That, and also I'm somewhat of a procrastinator when it comes to learning pieces... :P  I finished an original composition, and I'm working on another one as well. Sometimes, I find a certain melody on the piano, but can't seem to figure out what should come next, so I can't finish it. But what happens a lot is that I'll try finishing it months later, and my creativity returns!! Hahaha. It seemed like I couldn't really compose well for some weeks... I'm trying to learn some more techniques to use in my compositions. I will be filming both of the compositions at some point, maybe this week or next week. :)

I'm thinking about getting Emily's other songbook Hope soon. I haven't finished all the pieces in Always True but that's because the rest aren't all my favorite... The pieces I'd love to learn that are from Hope are the following: Final Journey, Italia, The Music in Me, and Soaring. What do you all think? Should I order Hope? :D

What other Emily Bear pieces would you like me to upload that are from The Love in Us and Always True? I'll see if I'd be able to get around to it.

I'd like to widen my repertoire a lot this year... With classical music though. I must say, my favorite thing to do with music is compose and improvise. :D

Au revoir,

New youtube upload!

Hello!

Today I'll like to share with you an audio excerpt of my performance of Liszt transcription of Schubert Schwanengesang No.7 Ständchen/ Serenade.

This piece was performed on the 14 of December 2012. As there are many interpretation to this pieces I've decided to upload a part of it for all of you :) I made some minor mistakes in the playing, do you hear them? ( I hope you don't :x )

I've just finish learning the 1st movement of Kuhlau's op.20 no.2 sonatina and the video should be coming soon :)

Meanwhile enjoy this!!

Criserl answer a few questions on Chopin Etudes

Hello!!

It has been about a week since my last post and today I want to answer a few questions about Chopin Etudes. (View Criserl's playing of the Revolutionary Etude op.10 no.12 here)

Yep,  although I will not be working on any Chopin pieces this year, but my love and desire for Chopin music is still as strong as ever! I'm recently in love with his etude op.10 no.9 and I think it is really nice!!

Qsn: Must my hands be really huge to play Chopin's Etude?
Ans: I would say not really but having a larger hand span would definitely make things easier.

Qsn: I just can't play the Chopin's etude it is too fast and complicated. How?
Ans: Do not be upset if you can't play it right, everything takes time, so be patient :) You can start off with a easier etude or at a slower tempo.

Qsn: How do I know which etudes are the easy ones?
Ans: You can either google or I would recommend this site that gives full analysis to all Chopin Etudes:) Check it out!

Lastly, I've decided to play Debussy's The Little Shepherd which is the shortest of all other pieces in the Children's corner:) Do you like it?

Love,
Criserl

Freestyle by Emily Bear

Here is Freestyle! It does have mistakes...sorry... I was getting distracted by my siblings who were being a little loud... LOL

Anyway, I hope it doesn't sound too bad... I still need to get it tuned, and will have to wait until I earn more money. :)

Like Criserl had said, we were requested to play something from Debussy's Children's Corner. I have the sheet music for Golliwog's Cake Walk from a book, and I may learn that one. We have until December, so there will be plenty of time. :)

Here's a video I made:

It's not the best, but it's not so bad. :)  I found some of the pictures on Pinterest, and added the words on Google+. Some of the pictures are ones that I took on my own.

What kind of post do you all think I should do next time? Give your ideas here. :D I want to write about something different.

Update : Criserl

Hello!

Today is the end of the first week in 2013.How has everyone been? Good?

If I'm not wrong, I'll be performing at a students' recital on 30th march 2013, nothing has been confirm yet, but most probably, I will be involve.

If confirmed, I plan to play French Suite No.6 in E - Courante by Bach and To a wild rose by Edward MacDowell :) Then, I'll record it for all of you! Also, I'm happy to say that I'm done with the Allemande in A by Handel.

It has been quite sometime since I last played Emily's music...

Anyway, both Viviana and I had receive a request to play a piece each from Debussy's children corner and we are working on it right now. I guess Viviana will talk about it in her next blog post or something:)

I must apologize for the lack of uploads recently.. more will come soon:)

Here is accomplished pianist George Li playing the entire Bach French Suite no.6

New Year Resolutions ~ Viviana

Hey everyone! I hope you had a great New Years! I made a video of snippets of my piano compositions that were composed in 2012, and you can view it here.

Here are my new year resolutions, as requested (These are all related to music. I will do 13, as it is now 2013):

1) I want to compose at least 20 compositions this year
2) Reach 3,000 views on the blog
3) Learn 10 classical pieces
4) Become better at sight reading
5) Finish any pieces I had previously been working on
6) Upload at least 2 videos a week
7) Gain 20 more subscribers
8) Play music by other modern composers
9) Learn a few of Emily Bear's pieces by ear
10) Pretend I'm a movie composer, and compose music for books that I love
11) Re-record my older compositions on the piano (since the others were on the keyboard)
12) Inspire other young pianists/composers to upload their videos
13) Upload some of my sister's original compositions

I have almost finished Freestyle by Emily Bear. It's a very fun piece to play! There's some corrections I need to make in it, so maybe I can upload it in a few weeks.

The waltz...I know...I haven't worked on it much. I kinda lost interest at this moment. I have to listen to it some more to finish a part that I was learning. I was asked by Kate what caused me to want to learn it. I would have to say that I really liked the key it's in (c# minor) and the part of it that I like the most would have to be the piu mosso part. The first time I had heard it, Emily Bear was playing it, and I loved how it sounded. I hope I will continue with the piece.... :)

I'm close to finishing a piece I had been composing. It reminds me of either snowflakes or flowers blooming...not sure which. Hahaha.

Until the next post,
Viviana
